Tom Kernan of RLGC Law Group is a seasoned attorney with more than 20 years of experience in both private practice and as in-house counsel.
He advises individuals, families, and closely held businesses on estate planning and administration, trust matters, business formation and succession, commercial transactions, employment law compliance, and residential real estate. Known for his calm, empathetic, and client-centered approach, Tom is committed to providing personalized, high-quality legal service throughout the greater Capital-Saratoga Region.
Tom earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from Albany Law School, where he was salutatorian and Director of the Moot Court Board, and holds a B.A. in Psychology from Bard College. He began his career with a two-year clerkship at the New York Court of Appeals, followed by a decade in private practice. He then spent more than 10 years as Vice President & General Counsel for a healthcare workforce and technology company, overseeing commercial agreements, compliance, governance, and risk management. He also holds an SPHR® certification.
Currently, Tom is pursuing an LL.M. in Elder Law and Estate Planning and is active in multiple sections of the New York State Bar Association. He has also served on the board of Caffè Lena and in leadership with the American Staffing Association.
